"Our stakeholders will definitely be happy". If you put buffer for 40 days, then stakeholder will be even more happier because you finish your project additional 30 days before schedule, isn't it?

Projjex.com is a great new site that does a fabulous job of project management. It’s completely browser-based, really easy to use, and has a free version. Cool videos too - I love it!

In a field where there are many project management software products, MS Project, or Microsoft Project, is the most well-known. It is essential in most environments for project managers and/or project team members to have at least a basic level of skill with Microsoft Project.

what happens if the resource completes the work without using up the buffer?

Instead of making a manual entry for the duration of the buffer you can automate the process.

you simply copy with a link the actual end date of the activity code to the actiual end date of the buffer . This way as soon as you enter an actual end date for the activity the actual end date of the buffer is automaticaly fixed to that date.
